Is Your Baby Always Uncomfortable?

There is nothing more heartbreaking than a baby who cannot be soothed — hours of crying, feeding struggles, and sleepless nights that leave the whole family exhausted and desperate for answers. Colic and reflux are not just 'normal phases' that babies grow out of; they are often signs of tension in the nervous system caused by the physical stress of birth. When the vagus nerve — the master controller of digestion — is compromised by upper cervical tension, the digestive system cannot function properly, and your baby suffers the consequences.

Constant Crying

Unexplained screaming episodes that last for hours, often at the same time every day, with nothing seeming to provide relief. This pattern is exhausting for the baby and devastating for parents who feel helpless watching their child in distress.

Spitting Up

Painful reflux that interrupts feeding and sleep, often causing the baby to arch their back and scream during or after meals. Frequent spit-up can also lead to poor weight gain and dehydration if the baby cannot keep enough nutrition down.

Arching Back

A baby who constantly arches their back is displaying a physical sign of tension and pain in the spine and gut. This posture is the body's reflex response to discomfort in the digestive tract and can also indicate nerve irritation in the upper cervical area.

Poor Latch

Difficulty nursing due to neck tension, jaw tightness, or an inability to turn the head comfortably to one side. When a baby cannot latch properly, it creates a cascade of problems — inadequate nutrition, painful nursing for mom, and increased frustration for both.

Colic & Reflux Relief — Gentle Unwinding at Trinity Life Chiropractic
Our Approach

Gentle Unwinding

The vagus nerve, which controls digestion, gut motility, and the entire 'rest and digest' response, exits right at the top of the neck where it is most vulnerable to birth strain. Dr. Colton O'Brien uses feather-light contacts — no more pressure than you'd use to test a tomato for ripeness — to release this tension, often providing noticeable relief for digestive distress within the first few visits. We use INSiGHT scanning to identify exactly where the interference is and track your baby's nervous system as it heals.

"We don't just treat the symptom; we correct the cause. By removing interference in the nervous system, your body can heal itself."

What Improvement Looks Like

Real results we see in our practice members every day.

Peaceful Sleep

No more waking up screaming in pain every hour through the night. When the nervous system can shift into 'rest and digest' mode, babies sleep longer stretches and wake up calmer and more content.

Happy Digestion

Reduced gas, constipation, and spit-up as the vagus nerve regains proper function and the digestive system can coordinate effectively. Many parents notice their baby's belly softens and bowel movements normalize within the first week of care.

Easier Feeding

Once neck tension is released, your baby can turn their head freely and latch without pain or restriction. This makes breastfeeding more comfortable for both mom and baby, and often resolves issues that were mistakenly attributed to tongue ties alone.

Restored Sanity

When your baby sleeps soundly and smiles after feeding, the whole family heals. Parents who have been running on adrenaline and desperation finally get to enjoy the bonding experience they were hoping for.

“We tried everything—drops, diet changes, inclines. One week of care here did what 3 months of medication couldn't. He is a completely different baby.”

Common Questions

Is it safe for newborns?
Extremely. The pressure used is no more than you'd use to check a tomato's ripeness. There is no twisting, cracking, or forceful manipulation. It is one of the gentlest forms of healthcare available for infants.
How fast will we see results?
Every baby is different, but many parents report noticeable improvements in sleep, comfort, and feeding after just 2-3 visits. Babies with more significant birth trauma may take a bit longer, but we track progress with regular scans so you always know where things stand.
Our pediatrician says it's just colic and they'll grow out of it. Should we still come?
While many babies do eventually outgrow the worst of the symptoms, 'growing out of it' doesn't mean the underlying nervous system tension has resolved. Addressing the root cause now can prevent those patterns from showing up later as sleep issues, immune problems, or developmental delays.
Can chiropractic help even if my baby is also on reflux medication?
Yes. Chiropractic care works alongside any medical treatment your pediatrician has recommended. Many families find that as the nervous system interference is corrected, they can work with their doctor to gradually reduce or eliminate medication.
What causes the nerve tension in the first place?
The most common cause is the birth process itself. Whether vaginal or C-section, the pulling, twisting, and compressive forces on the baby's head and neck during delivery can misalign the upper cervical vertebrae, putting pressure on the brainstem and vagus nerve.
My baby also has a tongue tie. Can you still help?
Absolutely. In fact, we often work alongside lactation consultants and tongue tie release providers. Upper cervical tension and tongue ties frequently coexist, and addressing the nervous system component makes tongue tie releases more effective and reduces the likelihood of the tie reattaching.
