What to expect
Your first visit, explained.
Forty-five to sixty minutes. A consultation, three INSiGHT nervous-system scans, a physical exam, and a clear next step. No pressure, no surprises, no ten-page contract.

Why we do it this way
We measure first, then treat.
Most chiropractic offices ask where it hurts and start adjusting. We ask how your nervous system is functioning and start with data.
That single shift — measure first, then treat — is why our retention rates run almost 30 points above industry average. The plan we recommend is built around what your scans actually show, not what gets you out of the door fastest.
Your first visit, step by step
Forty-five minutes, four parts.
Each step builds on the one before it. By the time you leave, we both have a clear, objective picture of what's going on — and what (if anything) we'd recommend doing about it.
- 1
Consultation
~15 minWe sit down to discuss your health history, current concerns, and wellness goals. This is when you tell us your story — what hurts, what's not working, what you'd like to get back to.
- Pregnancy + birth history if applicable
- Past injuries, surgeries, medications
- Sleep, energy, mood, pain patterns
- What you've tried before and what worked / didn't
- 2
INSiGHT scans
~15 minThree non-invasive scans (sEMG, Thermal, HRV) measure your nervous-system function objectively. NASA-certified technology. Safe in every trimester of pregnancy. Sensors adapted for kids and infants.
- sEMG — muscle tension symmetry around the spine
- Thermal — autonomic nervous system regulation
- HRV — vagal tone, stress + recovery balance
- Each scan takes 3–5 minutes, totally painless
- 3
Physical examination
~10 minA hands-on assessment of spinal alignment, range of motion, and posture. We look for the where and the why behind what brought you in. In most cases you'll receive your first adjustment during this visit.
- Spinal palpation + alignment check
- Range of motion in cervical, thoracic, lumbar
- Postural analysis (anterior, lateral, posterior)
- First gentle adjustment if appropriate
- 4
Report of findings
~10 minWe walk through what your scans and exam showed, what we'd recommend, and what your specific care plan would look like. No pressure, no upsell — you decide what's next.
- Visual scan report you can take home
- Plain-English explanation of findings
- Recommended frequency + duration of care
- Pricing options laid out, no contracts

INSiGHT deep dive
What the scans actually measure.
INSiGHT is a NASA-certified, non-invasive nervous-system assessment platform. We use it on every new patient — newborn through senior — because the scans give us objective, repeatable data that we can re-measure as care progresses.
Three scans, three different windows into the nervous system. Together they show us where the wiring is being asked to work too hard, where it's not communicating clearly, and where it's adapting in real time.

Measures the electrical activity of the muscles supporting your spine. Patterns of tension show us how your body is compensating for nervous-system stress.
Reads autonomic nervous system regulation through temperature symmetry along the spine. Asymmetries point to neurological imbalance.
Quantifies vagal tone — the body's ability to balance stress and recovery. A core measure of long-term resilience and adaptability.
Before you arrive
What to bring (and not worry about).
Comfortable clothing
Anything you can move in. Athletic wear is great. Pregnant patients — whatever you're already most comfortable in.
Insurance card or ID
We're cash-based but accept HSA / FSA. Bring your card if you'd like a superbill for out-of-network reimbursement.
Your kids, if applicable
We're a family practice. Bring kids whether they're patients or just along for the ride. Toys + a play corner are part of the office.
Recent imaging (optional)
X-rays, MRIs, or pediatrician notes can be helpful. Not required — we'll request anything we need after your visit.
Your questions
Bring a list. We'd rather you ask everything in the room than try to remember on the way home.
Don't worry about
Showering before, dressing up, fasting, or skipping coffee. Come as you are — your normal day is the most useful baseline.
Common questions
Before you book.
How long does the first visit take?
Plan on 45 to 60 minutes. The consultation is the longest part — we want to actually hear your story, not just check a box.
Will I get adjusted on the first visit?
In most cases, yes. If your scans and exam show something we can correct in this visit, we do — no extra appointment, no add-on fee. Some cases (acute injuries, certain pregnancy presentations) we hold off on day one.
Do you accept insurance?
We're cash-based, so we don't bill insurance directly. We do accept HSA / FSA cards and provide superbills for out-of-network reimbursement on most major plans.
What does it cost after the first visit?
Care plans vary. Most start with a corrective phase (typically 12–24 visits) followed by maintenance. We walk through pricing options at the end of your first visit — no pressure, no contracts, no upsell.
Can I bring my kids?
Absolutely. Trinity Life is a family practice — kids are welcome whether they're being adjusted or just along for the visit. There's a play corner, toys, and child-friendly tables.
What if I'm pregnant?
We see prenatal patients in every trimester. Dr. O'Brien is Webster Technique certified through the ICPA. The first visit follows the same four-part flow, with pregnancy-specific positioning + assessment.
